Snorkeling

Snorkeling is best during the dry season (Dec thru May) when the waves are smaller and the water is clearer. Equipment is available at Casa Amarilla for those who want to explore the rock reefs around Gigante and see a variety of colorful tropical fish and corals.

There are two excellent places close to Gigante for snorkeling: Arenas Bay and Pelican Isle. Arenas Bay is the next bay over from Gigante going south. It is just a short walk down the beach and over the hill to reach this pristine bay. Pelican Isle is a short boat ride south and is in front of the beautiful beach at Guacalito. This spot is “boat only access” since the Guacalito beach is private. There are also rock points on each side of Gigante that can provide excellent snorkeling but currents are stronger around the points and only strong swimmers should attempt this adventure.
