Welcome from the Owners

Ben & Ofelia have built Casa Amarilla to serve families and couples who are looking for pristine beaches, warm Pacific water and opportunities to explore one of the world’s most beautiful and sparsely populated coastlines. Casa Amarilla was built to provide the comforts of civilization on the remote and private southwest coast of Nicaragua. The home is situated within a gated complex also containing the Pie de Gigante Restaurant. The restaurant offers Mediterranean style dishes, vegeterian meals and traditional dishes.. The location in Playa Gigante is adjacent to a small fishing community of families who operate about 30 pangas (small, open fishing boats) to support themselves by fishing in the bountiful waters of the Pacific.
Ofelia holds dual citizenship in Nicaragua and the United States and you will find that she is noticeably proud of her beautiful Nicaraguan homeland. Although she has lived primarily in the US for most of her adult life, her roots are pure Nica. Ofelia spent much of her youth living on her family coffee farm and she has extensive knowledge of local plants and animals. Ben is a US citizen and Nicaraguan resident who has traveled the world extensively for both business and pleasure. He has fished and surfed in many of the world’s remote areas and he almost always found that enjoying the ocean in secluded and natural places meant that one had to settle for primitive accommodations.
Ben & Ofelia believe strongly that families, and especially children, should experience nature and different cultures as they are. And that the experience should be pleasant and comfortable. Casa Amarilla has been built to serve this concept.
Ben and Ofelia have four grown children and one grandson. They both love spending their free time outdoors enjoying the natural environment, particularly in Nicaragua. They also enjoy traveling to other countries where they can find natural environments, good food and wonderful people.
Come and visit Casa Amarilla and enjoy Nicaragua!
